The Prefect Margarita
I make cocktails all day, everyday but being my personal favourite classic I've spend years perfecting my recipe.
50ml Tequila
25ml Cointreau
50ml fresh lime juice
25ml agave
5ml lemon juice
5ml suger syrup
salt
There are people out there that will swap their salt rim for a sugar one, we don't like those people.
A good 1/2 salt rim is an absolute must, rock salt is best and always a half rim to allow choose with every sip.
Any tequila will do, Don Julio 1942 is the ideal, but sometimes you need to work within the current budget. Also making margaritas is actually a very effective way of making the most of a cheap tequila that would be too nasty to shot or drink with soda.
Cointreau is an orange flavoured liquor that has been around since 1875. Also famous for its appearance for another classic, a cosmo, cointreau is very big contender for best supporting actor.
Adding your agave, which is the nectar tequila is made from and your fresh lime juice completes situation.
The sugar syrup and lemon juice are by no means necessary, just little extras I've added over time to craft my personally favourite experience, and always shake with ice.
If your serving your margarita straight up like in the photos a coup glass is 100% the way to go, if your in the sun I'd recommend a short rocks glass with a little too much ice and straw. Garish with a quarter lime.
My favourite drink.
